Tuchel: Man City scandal a ‘big subject’ in England squad

RIJEKA, Croatia (AP): England coach Thomas Tuchel acknowledged yesterday that Manchester City’s financial scandal has become a “big topic” of conversation among his squad during the long international break. Three players – Elliot Anderson, Marc Guehi and Nico O’Reilly – picked in Tuchel’s initial squad play for City, which could be facing severe sanctions after being found guilty by an investigatory panel of more than 100 charges related to breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules.

Shaw heads Girlz squad for Mexico friendlies

Mom of slain 20-y-o wanted life sentence for police lover

The mother of 20-year-old D’Jonnay Graham, who was shot dead by her police lover in June 2025, has expressed displeasure that he was sentenced for manslaughter, insisting that her beloved daughter was murdered. The victim’s mother, Euon Douglas Graham, was hoping that Constable Patrick Walters would have been sentenced to life imprisonment. “We not pleased and that’s not fair. That’s not manslaughter; that’s murder,” Graham told reporters outside the Supreme Court on Friday.

UDC warns it cannot guarantee daily services at Little Dunn’s River

The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) says the relevant team has been directed to take steps to facilitate public access to Little Dunn’s River Beach in Ocho Rios, St Ann, in compliance with a court order. However, the UDC indicated that it was not in a position at this time to provide “day-to-day management” of the popular recreational spot, including arrangements for security, lifeguard services, sanitation, maintenance or other amenities ordinarily required for such a facility. The UDC is the state entity that owns the facility.

Formal jobs decline by 24,000 as fewer Jamaicans work

More than 21,000 Jamaicans were no longer employed in July, with most of the losses concentrated in formal jobs, even as the country's unemployment rate remained near historic lows, according to new data released Wednesday by the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN). The July Labour Force Survey showed employment falling by 21,900 persons to 1.419 million, down from 1.441 million a year earlier. The labour force contracted by 21,800 persons to 1.469 million, while the number of people outside the labour force increased by the same amount to 687,300.

Fesco opening more stations

Future Energy Source Company Ltd (FESCO) plans to open two more dealer-owned service stations this year, which would take its network to 26 islandwide. The expansion follows record sales and rising operating profit, which give the fuel marketer room to grow. Managing Director Jeremy Barnes told the Financial Gleaner that FESCO ended its last financial year with 23 stations. It has since opened one at Sheffield in western Jamaica, taking the network to 24.
